Is Life All About You?
Have you ever thought that when you go through different or frustrating times that it might not have to do with you or it may be that you are being prepared for something in your future. Think about it this way -- Joseph known for his technicolor dreamcoat and other amazing things, spent his later teens and all of his 20's in and out of prison for doing NOTHING wrong, actually, he made the right choice and was thrown into prison. He was a great guy but at age 17 his brothers sold him into slavery -- no you can't sell your little brother into slavery anymore -- and he was shipped to a foreign country and bought. At age 20 he had a really good job, but was falsely accused and ended up in jail for the next 10 years of his life -- imagine your sophomore year in college being thrown in jail for 10 years and when you get out -- your friends all are married and have families, they have great jobs, a nice house, 2 cars, a boat and you have nothing and you have been sitting in prison for 10 years.
But if Joseph hadn't been through the teens and twenties he would not have been in the place 7 years later to no only save his entire family but help keep God's people thriving in the world. Pretty amazing stuff.
So what happens when we complain that things don't go the way we want them to or things don't happen as quickly as we want them to? We get frustrated, angry with God, insist that things aren't fair. But do we ever allow ourselves to think maybe God has a purpose for our lives that goes beyond ourselves. Look at the people around you -- who is around you now and how can you make an impact on them?
