More Than A Dash

I don't like to clean up around the house. Neither does anyone in my family. We spent 2 and a half hours this morning going room to room picking stuff up, putting it where it should go, and throwing stuff away. It was like torture -- the girls would find ways to get distracted, like go to the basement to put something away and just happen to find a toy they haven't seen in years and have to play with it, Kris and I would get frustrated start snapping at each other. It wasn't much fun, when we got done, Kris and I laughed that we had only spent 2 and a half hours cleaning up and it seemed like forever, but we could watch a football game for 3 hours and the time would fly by. Expectations can change how we look at things and how we spend our time. We are both trying to be better at taking every moment as a gift and finding the opportunities in it, whether it is cleaning up the house, working, talking with family, or doing something we enjoy. It's hard to recognize every moment as an opportunity, but it is a much easier and exciting way to live life.

I had the opportunity to go to GR today and hang out with some youth pastors from GR and listen to Craig Gross the founder of xxxchurch. Good times, Elizabeth even won a free conference registration to the Youth Specialties Conference in Cincinnati. Only problem it is 3 weeks before her due date -- hope the Dr. says it is OK for her to go. Hey Craig Gross is a great guy with a calling to talk to people about pornography and how it is damaging people and taking them away from who they are becoming. Good guy, check the web site out www.xxxchurch.com I really respect leaders who address topics that people are struggling with, especially topics that the church tends to stay away from. Challenges me to stay focused on what God is calling me to do, even when I run into hurdles or friendly fire.

Hey I had the opportunity to have lunch with a good friend yesterday. For those of you who were at 180 on Sunday night, you heard that I had a rough week last week with more people tearing me down that lifting me up. Well this guy is awesome and spent most of the time lifting me up. Anyway, one of the things he did was to pray for me and the food before we ate. When we were finishing up, a random waitress came up to our table and said, "I want to thank you for praying, I have worked here for awhile and I usually don't see people praying. It was great to see people notice what you guys were doing as they walked past." We talked for a little while and then our waitress came and sat down and listened to us. It was a great divine appointment and one that I took advantage of, sometimes I avoid divine appointments or run from them because I don't want to take the time, don't feel like it or whatever reason I have at the time, but this was good. I left realizing the God is good and that I need to take advantage of those divine appointments. Let me hear about some of yours.
